AIRPORT
The nearest airport is the Cape Town International Airport. For long stays in Cape Town, we recommend renting a vehicle to move from the Airport and around the Western Cape for the duration of your stay. Avis, Budget, Europcar are all available at the airport.

Metered Taxis are readily available at the airport for transfer to your accommodation. These are typically paid for in local currency (ZAR) or using a compatible bank card.
Uber is available in Cape Town and is the preferred mode of transport around Cape Town. Your international Uber account will automatically be active in Cape Town when you land.
MYCITI BUS
For those staying in the Blouberg/Milnerton/Tableview area, My City Bus is an option to move between city centre and home. See link to website below:

ELGIN
Elgin is an amazing mountainous valley situated after Grabouw once you summit Sir Lowry’s Pass. It’s also known as Apple Valley, where the famous Appeltizer is created. A tranquil place surrounded by mountains and greenery, with boutique wine farms and restaurants in close proximity. Where to stay: Old Mac Daddy Hotel – Stay in Daddy’s Villa. Home – Old Mac Daddy
What to do:
Elgin Railway Market – Old railway station converted to a food, arts and craft market. Very cool, with live music and a great vibe.
Hickory Shack/ Hickville Smoke House – Amazing smoked food and home-made ice cream, amongst others. You can ask the pit master to give you a tour of the fire pit where all the smoking magic happens.
Charles Fox Boutique – MCC estate (Morgane’s favourite MCC in the Cape).
South Hill Vineyards – A beautiful wine farm with good food (have wine tasting and lunch at one of the tables situated between in vineyards)
The Melting Pot – A boutique restaurant with a tasting style approach for different food from across the world. Limited tables and guests are accommodated as the chef prepares the food per person and source exactly the amount of fresh ingredients for the night.
Paul Cluver – Popular wine farm and nice restaurant.
Perengrine Farm Stall – Organic farm stall with lots of craft shops but mainly organic foods and produce. Great for breakfast or lunch and shopping for good organic food stuffs.
Houw Hoek Farm stall – Similar to Peregrine above, but a smaller scale. Great coffee shop at this one though.
DE KRANTZ HUIS
De Krantz Huis – @ Elandsvoetpad De KrantzHuis@Elandsvoetpad, Nieuwoudtville – Houses for Rent in Nieuwoudtville, Northern Cape, South Africa – Airbnb
Situated in a small town just out of the Western Cape border, Niewoudvile. It’s about a 4-hour drive, but when you get to the house situated at the edge of a plateau with a 1km vertical drop to the low lands below.
Self-catering and designed for those who want a tranquil getaway focussed on time together.
Activities:
Enjoy the house, cook together, barbaque, relax and enjoy the view.
Do a nice walk around the property/estate where you could see some mountainous wildlife. We saw porcupines, tortoise, dassies, white cross eagles, and apparently legend has it that there is a leopard that visits at night
There are some smaller low-key stuff you can drive out and do: Botanical gardens, Local Farmstall, Local garage with a collection of classic cars, biggest quiver tree forest in the southern hemisphere, drive through the town and bye some good authentic biltong at the local butcher.
HERMANUS
A lively coastal town with a mountainous backdrop, and popular weekend/holiday destination. Nice beaches and the world of accommodation options, just check air BnB.
It’s a developed city with great restaurants, especially some special ones situated on the rocks.
In October we are still in the peak season for Southern Right whales in the bay, seen right up at the shoreline. So whale watching is popular.
Nice restaurants: Bientang’s Cave and Ficks are our favourite spots for the ocean vibe. For a special carnivore experience, go to Char’d.
Other’s to do: Hamilton Russel vineyards, La Vierge Wines, Creation Wines; Many beaches to choose from (Grotto Beach is popular); Hermanus country market; Whale Museum;
Brewery for beer tasting; Walk the Cliff Path; visit the Abagold Abalone Farm and taste.
You could also drive to L’Agulus – The Southern most tip of Africa and where the two oceans meet.
